T.H.I.N.K.

If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are just fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless…the tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do”

(James 1:29, 3:5b).

Speaking is one of our primary forms of communication. Awareness not only of what we say, but also of how and when we speak will help us maintain right speech. Be careful! The more you speak, the more you sin. Consider some of the ways we may sin with our tongues:

According to James, we need to guard our speach. How can we make certain that we do not sin with our tongue?

  • Get a new heart. Psalm 51:10. 2 Corinthians 5:17.

  • T.H.I.N.K. before you speak.

    • Is it Truthful?

    • Is it Helpful?

    • Is it Inspirational?

    • Is it Necessary?

    • Is it Kind?

  • Ask God for help every day. Psalm 141:3.

Consider the following attributed to both Eleanor Roosevelt and Admiral Hyman G. Rickover.“Great minds discuss ideas.   Mediocre minds discuss events.
Lesser minds discuss people.”
