Robin & Shahiv Farooq, unborn baby will have
an ultra sound this Monday to see how the organs are doing. House Churches Require Houses Generally, our SHARE Groups are experiencing a spirit of generosity
in the use of houses for meeting places. We all understand that it
is not simply an easy thing or even a possible thing for everyone
at just anytime. And that’s OK. A little incident is recorded in Luke 10:38-42. “Martha was
distracted by all the preparations that had to be made . . . ‘Martha,
Martha,’ the Lord said, ‘you are worried and upset about
many things, but only one thing is needed.’” The “one
thing” is devotion to Jesus and His teaching. We have not usually read these verses in light of Luke’s coupling
it with another story about what is most important and what is least
important. The Good Samaritan parable precedes the story in verses
25-37. It shows that priestly duties are not as important as being
a loving neighbor. Following that, good hospitality is not as important
as the one thing which is needed. Unimportant is not the teaching
of either story. Recognizing greater importance is the point of both.
House churches and Bible studies require houses. Northridge is blessed
with many nice families, people, and houses. It is a blessing to use
things with which we have been blessed. It is exciting to think that
something I have can be put into use to further the kingdom. Stewing
over such things is not stewardship of those things, Martha. Getting past cultural pride is a matter of giving ourselves. Being
blessed with a house is a matter of His grace, not our glorification.
Personally, I know you wear socks, do not live in a dust free zone,
and have offspring who leave things out – just in case I ever
see such atrocities. I’ll assume you didn’t repaint every
room last week, may not have a picturesque view or a large vault ceiling
room, and have sheetrock subject to cracks. I’m glad I said
that – welcome to our house! So if you can and when you can, receive a blessing by using your blessing. Thanks! - Cliff
